Just Here for the Booze

This group of boys were the last few stragglers at the Apollo Magazine drinks party.  I was drawn to the striped suit, and wanted to take a photo, and as I did so the group tried to chat me up, letting me know that they were “only here for the booze”.  The surroundings were so enchanting and gorgeous I really wanted to paint them, then the man in the middle started to tell a funny story to his friends in an animated way, which I have caught here.   You would’ve had no idea that this beautiful private garden existed behind a row of Victorian houses in the centre of London.
